Grego Interior Architects' approach to family-friendly luxury
We spoke to Grego van den Broek from Grego Interior Architects about their latest residential project based in Amsterdam.
THE BRIEF
“In the idyllic Paterswolde, far from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam, a young family discovered their dream spot to grow. Their quest for more space and serenity led them to a new-build home in a small-scale villa neighbourhood. Amidst family and the tranquil surroundings, their new home awaited to be brought to life.”
While the spacious dwelling offered ample possibilities, its interior needed to reflect the personality of the clients and functionality required. The interior designer chosen for this was Grego Interior Architects, renowned for their understated and atmospheric designs, they helped deliver a stylish aesthetic while meeting the practical needs of a young family.
THE CONCEPT
“Grego van den Broek, the visionary mind behind the firm, drew inspiration from the family’s desires: a subtle, stylish interior featuring clean lines and a wow factor. The aim was to craft a timeless, zen-like ambiance where functionality and aesthetics intertwined. The team pursued a minimalist design palette with warm tones and natural materials.
In the pursuit of the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality, an interior emerged characterised by clean lines, abundant natural light, and spaciousness. Through the incorporation of natural stone, wood, micro-cement, and linen curtains, coupled with bespoke craftsmanship, the home exudes timeless elegance. Opting for beige and ecru instead of white, alongside custom-made curved door frames, adds a warm and playful dimension to the space.”
THE PRODUCT
A selection of door and furniture hardware from the Barrel Solid range was chosen for this beautifully minimalist interior style. Choosing Turnstyles’ signature Vintage Patina finish, the deep matte, brass finish was chosen to match other brass features.

“Grego van den Broek, an interior architect driven by a passion for crafting unique and exclusive interiors, has been shaping spaces from his design studio in Breda (NL) for over a decade. With degrees from the renowned Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Mechelen (BE) and the Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano (CH), Grego established his own design studio in 2012, embarking on a mission to create functional, aesthetic, and personalized environments for his clients.
Grego has been spearheading his interior studio, initially focusing on interior design. Over time, the demand expanded to encompass both interior and architectural projects, evolving into large and intricate renovation ventures, ranging from townhouses and farmstead conversions to new-build villas. Operating in the Netherlands, Sweden, and since recently a beach villa in Marbella (ES), Grego Interior Architects targets the high-end market with their laidback luxury vibes. In 2023, they relocated to a new design studio in Breda, a fully renovated space boasting a showroom that sets the standard in the interior design world with its high-end finishes and exquisite bespoke details.”
